Jean Paul Gaultier is well known for his experiments and challenges, not only on a catwalk. For example, now he became an author of costumes for Berlin variety show.
Gaultier said, that creating costumes for a cabaret show was his cherished dream. That’s why he couldn’t refuse when Berlin Friedrichstadt-Palast had offered designer a collaboration.
So Gaultier created around 500 different costumes for a hundred performers of The One Grand Show. His designs are inspired by Berlin with its unique atmosphere and bright history of cabaret. But also designer left his own recognizable touches like the sailor stripe and deconstructed silhouettes.
The One Grand Show about the living diversity of the cultural metropolis officially debuts on stage on Oct. 6, 2016. That’s when we’ll remark the new creations of maestro Gaultier and enjoy a performance at the theatre with almost 100-year history.
