After the Salar de Uyuni we started to find the way to Laguna Hedionda! “Started to find” as we had no idea which way to go! It was no internet, no mobiles nothing that could help us to find the way fast)) but we had a paper map! 🙂 So as soon we started to understand more or less which side of the world we should go we’ve started our trip!
I can tell only this – that at the end we’ve reached our hotel, but it was already deep night (around 2 am), we lost our way more than five times, we saw a lot of hyenas, our driver was so scary that we were thinking to make him sleep with some special peels just to stop his panic attack :)) In the hotel was so cold that I was sleeping under 20 kg blanket, so it was real exotic 24 hours!
But in the morning I was completely shocked! Our hotel was completely beside the lake full of white flamingos! It was Laguna Hedionda! This is one of the nine small saline lakes in the Andean Altiplano. It lies at an altitude of 4,121 metros and famous thanks to very rare James’s Flamingos which a mostly white for the reason that algae that creates the pink colour is comparatively less in the lake waters. I can’t say that it was warm (-15C), so we made few pictures, told good bye to flamingos and started to go as Bolivia is full of amazing nature places!
