Last night Rome opera house presented the premiere of a new version of Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” opera, which is one of the most famous performances all over the world.
It is worth noting that the performance has gathered a huge media attention, as well as many celebrity guests. The matter is that the updated version of “La Traviata” became the unexpected collaboration of Sofia Coppola and Valentino brand. It was Coppola’s debut as a theatre director and the fashion house triumph because of the creation the most impressive costumes.
Haute couture gowns that took 800 hours to make were created for the soprano Francesca Dotto, who is singing the lead role of Violetta, by Valentino Garavani, the founder of Valentino fashion house. Other gorgeous costumes for the rest of the cast designed the current creative directors of Maison Valentino, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccoli.
“We hope the opera can be less intimidating. I have nothing against rock concerts, but this is much more romantic and visually beautiful,” said Valentino Garavani, explaining his desire to work in an unusual role for himself.
